Tucked in a spot beneath the Valletta bastions along the Marsamxett coastline, the Cockney’s restaurant is not a new comer to the list of best restaurants of the island. Opened 909 years ago as a fishing shop and a café, the location was perfect for views as well as food. Fisherman and sailors would normally head to the café next door and played cards while having a coffee or a drink. The restaurant as of now is named after a grandfather’s nickname Cockney. He was called that as he spent a huge amount of time in London due to which he acquired quite an accent. Historical events can be re-lived by looking at the walls of the present-day restaurant and elevated terrace. The views of Fort Manoel are marvelous.

The menu awakens your taste buds with mead dishes, antipasti and pasta treats. The mussel’s pasta and claims assert a good memory in your tasting adventure. However, the main unique dish here remains the traditional rabbit stew, served after slow cooking in oven.
Wine selection complements your culinary experience. The restaurant is a matured third-generation eating place offering supreme delights of richly flavoured food emerging from a rich family history.
